Photography and abstract paintings by two Utah artists will be seen all July at the Harmons City Creek supermarket, 135 E. 100 South, in downtown Salt Lake City.
Robert Hall's photography depicts the Baron Woolen Mill, build between 1869 and 1870 in Brigham City. Much of the machinery and other artifacts from the mill are still there, and Hall's photos capture the natural light in this now-defunct industrial setting. Hall uses machine oil from the mill on the frames of his work, allowing viewers to smell the factory.
Paired with Hall's photos are abstract paintings by Chase McCleary. According to Alpine Art, the gallery arranging the exhibit, McCleary's paintings "use subtle technique and an interesting color palette to simultaneously evoke a feeling of calm and a sense of energy."
The exhibit will be on display at Harmons' mezzanine level through July 31.
