• Canadian prog-rock band Protest the Hero headlines a show tonight at In the Venue, 219 S. 600 West, Salt Lake City. Opening acts: Periphery, Jeff Loomis (guitarist for Nevermore), The Safety Fire, Today I Caught the Plague. Show starts at 5:30. Tickets are $20, at Smith's Tix.

• The Utah Jazz play host to the Golden State Warriors, tonight at EnergySolutions Arena. Game starts at 7 p.m. Tickets available at Smith's Tix.

• The Utah Symphony performs Mahler's Symphony No. 4, tonight and Saturday at Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Soprano Lisa Milne is featured. Concerts start at 8 p.m. both nights. Tickets available at ArtTix.

• Jazz singer-songwrriter-keyboardist Jessie Davis returns to Salt Lake City (where she attended high school) for a show tonight at Bar Deluxe, 668 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Show starts at 9. Tickets are $5, at the door.

• Alt-rock superstars Neon Trees (pictured) come home to Utah for a show Saturday at Mountain View High School, 665 W. Center St., Orem. The show is a benefit for Giant Steps Autism Preschool. Opening act: The Lower Lights. Show starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20, at 24Tix.

Real Salt Lake plays host to the team's archrival, the Colorado Rapids, in Major League Soccer action Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium, 9270 S. State St., Sandy. Game starts at 7 p.m. Tickets available at the Rio Tinto website.
