The Utah Valley Fine Arts Council and Utah Valley University School of the Arts announce the 6th annual Utah Renaissance Faire, Aug. 25-26, 2017. Those who come in Renaissance period costume will receive a $2 discount. Groups of school children will get a $4 admission to the Faire on Aug. 25, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with free bounce back tickets to the main Faire on Saturday. Come and learn about the traditional art of oral storytelling from some of the most accomplished storytellers in the world including Charlotte Blake Alston, Carmen Deedy, Priscilla Howe, Bil Lepp, Rona Leventhal, Tim Lowry, Barbara McBride-Smith, Anne Shimojima, and Joseph Sobol.  The 2017 Timpanogos Storytelling Conference will be held the same week as the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, allowing attendees to participate in the Conference on Thursday and then enjoying the Festival on Friday and Saturday. The Timpanogos Storytelling Festival is one of the nation’s premier storytelling events. Attendees from across the United States and Canada come to hear stories from unforgettable performers in an unbelievable setting at the Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point. The new location at Thanksgiving Point will provide attendees a beautiful and convenient location for Festival events. The Festival is a great place for the whole family. Between storytelling performances, there is live music by some of the region’s best bands and even puppet performances for the little ones. Thanksgiving Point will host the annual Labor Day Luau, an outdoor event set against the backdrop of the largest man-made waterfall in the western hemisphere, and will kick off with a Polynesian-style dinner served at 5 p.m., followed by a Keiki fashion show at 6 p.m., Samoan fire performances and cooking demonstrations at 6:30 p.m. and an authentic luau at 7 p.m.
