Description: Re-ignite the excitement and nostalgia of the Winter Olympic Games once again at Olympic Plaza at The Gateway. In 2002, The Gateway served as the celebratory hub of the Salt Lake City Olympic festivities, and is set to once again bring that spirit to the community to kick off this year’s games in Pyeongchang. The Opening Ceremonies Viewing Party is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome. Featuring games such as ping pong and cornhole, food trucks, a 2002 throwback photo booth and a 21-and-older section, it’s an opportunity to celebrate the numerous athletes from Utah as they represent the United States in the 2018 Olympics. Festivities Feb. 9, 2018, 6-9 p.m. Attendees must RSVP to gain access to the 21-and-older area, but all other activities do not require a reservation. More information can be found at Proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics of Utah. The event will also be hosting athletes from the Special Olympics. For those who make a $5 donation to the Special Olympics, they will receive an exclusive Gateway beanie.
