Description: of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts will present the artwork of Lynette Yiadom-Boakye in its salt 7 exhibit. A British artist of African descent, Yiadom-Boakye has a distinctive approach to portrait painting: her subjects, almost always black people, are characters she invents, from various sources and imagination, purposely situated in timeless, placeless settings without the usual visual clues that establish spatial relationships, social position, and economic circumstances. There will be a public program with the artist Feb. 21, 7 p.m. at UMFA. Visit www.umfa.utah.edu for information.
