In August 1972 John Wojtowicz attempted to rob a bank to finance his lover's sex-reassignment surgery. The act resulted in a hostage situation that later inspired the film Dog Day Afternoon. Drawing upon archival footage, The Dog shuffles between decades giving viewers a historic perspective on New York's gay liberation movement, in which Wojtowicz played an active role. Official Selection: 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, 2014 Berlin International Film Festival, 51st New York Film Festival. Visit utahfilmcenter.org for information.
