The Phillips Gallery will present new artwork from Trent Alvey and Meri DeCaria, June 11-July 8, 2016. An artists' reception will be held June 17, 6-9 p.m. Alvey is known as a mixed-media artist who uses painting, sculpture, light and sound technique in the creation of works that have been called both "pop" and "contemporary." DeCaria's work deals with playful shapes, complex color combinations and spirit de vivre. Drawing inspiration from the images and patterns of 1960's modernism, and using the fluid forms derived of the occasional doodle, she assembles fragments into abstract compositions. Joining Alvey and DeCaria will be Teresa Jordan who has has been involved with the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and the Conference on World Affairs, turning many of her "open road" experiences into stories which she tells live on stage without notes in a storytelling tradition as old as Homer. Showing concurrently in the Dibble gallery will pottery artist, Suzanne Storer. Visit www.phillips-gallery.com for information.
